Abbey House is a privately owned family home surrounded by world famous gardens of 5 acres. Specialising in bespoke weddings for
ceremony and/or reception we can cater for 6 to 130 guests. Our service offers assistance in all aspects of the day and we will do as much or as little as required to ensure the day you wish to create.

General information
C16th Abbey House has a wonderful atmosphere both inside and out and is one of the most unique properties around. If you are looking for an intimate and quite unique environment this could be the place for you. Whether your ceremony involves just the two of you and your witnesses or whether you require room for 130 we have a space for you.
Choose the panelled hall for parties of 40, the Library with its stunning view over the river garden for up to 100, or the Belvedere (right) for larger informal parties, which is perfect in the summer with its tree top vistas for those wanting a garden wedding with a charming rustic feel. Our laburnum walk can be covered under with a marquee, which would take 80 for dinner.
When you book Abbey House we will work closely with you to coordinate your wedding day and assist with any arrangements you may require, which could include some of the following:- Accommodation; Flowers; Photographer; Wedding cake; Transport; Entertainment; Stationery; Coloured linen; Bridal make-up. Suppliers are not booked without full approval of our client. All extra requirements will be quoted and charged accordingly.

Our preferred caterer, award-winning ‘Dine with Style’ can create any menu for you whether it’s simply champagne and canapés or a threecourse dinner. Once you have booked Abbey House we arrange for you to meet with our Chef and together agree the menu that suits you and your guests.
Abbey House Rooms
The Library – seats up to 100
The library has large windows with spectacular views across the river gardens and valley. The room has access from the main drive outside and/or from the panelled Hall
The Front Hall – Seats up to 40
An impressive room with beautiful mid-oak panelling the bride may enter from the formal courtyard or down the staircase. Lending an intimate and historic feel to the proceedings the room also enjoys fantastic views over the river gardens.
The Belvedere
Seats up to 130 theatre style for ceremony, 100 seated for a formal wedding breakfast The Belvedere is a beautiful space for those wanting to really bring the gardens into the event. It is an obvious room for summer weddings overlooking the gardens and tree tops but is also the perfect venue for your ‘wedding breakfast’ or reception.
The Bower House – 6 people only stand within
An intimate and very romantic space for the couple wanting a small or garden wedding, the Bower House is almost hidden within the gardens. Approached through the herb garden, additional guests may stand either side to watch the proceedings.
Registrars
The Registrars who officiate for your ceremony at Abbey House are based in Chippenham and can be contacted via their central call centre on 01225 713007.
We offer a private room for you to meet with The Registrars prior to the ceremony. Please be aware that there are restrictions on photography during the ceremony.
