Our facilities
Refreshments
Not so much a tea room, as an indoor/outdoor space where you watch and listen to the birds from the Belvedere with its spectacular views across the river valley – it is really like sitting in the tree tops – as you select from our range of teas, coffees and soft drinks, or watch the kio carp in the ‘Stew pond’ from the shelter of the pentice.
We offer a range of Teas – from builders to Earl Grey
Coffee – bog standard instant to mocha or expresso
Hot Chocolate - fair trade
Cappacino
Juices – orange, apple, mango, pineapple
Squashes: - orange, blackcurrant, orange & peach, summer-fruits, orange & mango
Apple, Pear & Grape Juice when in season made from our own fruit, pasteurised and bottled locally.
Ice Cream – from local Marshfield Farm
To soak it up we provide locally made biscuits and delicious apple, carrot and lemon cakes produced especially for us by Amanda’s tea shop around the corner in Gloucester St. Amanda chooses good quality local products as available including flour from Shipton Mill
If you need something more substantial, there are several pubs, restaurants and cafes, just outside our gates in the town centre and you can always come back in to see us later.
Loos and baby changing
We have excellent toilet facilities including disabled and baby changing
Wheelchair access
Many of our visitors that use wheelchairs come back again and again which says it all don’t you think? We are unable to offer a wheelchair on loan for use in the grounds at present but you are welcome to bring your own. Please be assured that most wheelchairs find the gardens at least 60% accessible, some accessing 100%. Indeed the smooth gravel paths around the grounds are generally easy to negotiate by most wheeled carriages.
Please ask for the wheelchair plan available at our admissions kiosk when you come in.
