Tulip Displays at the Abbey House Gardens
Our Tulips are just one of many great seasonal attractions at the Abbey House Gardens in Malmesbury. We have one of the largest displays in the UK with over 150,000 in the ground, 500 varieties in total, with just about every colour you can imagine in full bloom. Unlike other gardens we don't lift them from year to year as this allows them to flower earlier on than usual. By adding around twenty thousand tulips each year we prolong the display into May. Each year the display is refreshed and updated with new species arranged in exciting new colour patterns. With masses of tulips planted in the Rose beds we ensure a fabulous colourful display for spring which the roses take forward into the summer.
In March April 2010 Ian & Barbara were featured on the cover of Wiltshire Life magazine giving an indepth interview about the Tulip displays. Pictured below:
The Tulip display lasts from early March until early May with early bloomers, mid bloomers and late bloomers. The famous Tulips are just one of the many attractions at the Abbey House Gardens over the course of the season.Watch out for the Alliums, Iris, Laburnum tunnel, Oriental Poppy, Peony, Rhododendron and Wisteria in May, before the first flush of roses in early June.
