The Rose Collection at Abbey House Gardens

The 2200 different varieties of Roses on display at the gardens makes up the largest private collection in the UK. The original 2000 roses planted were done so by Ian & Barbara as a way of marking the new millenium but every year since more have been added. Around 20% of the roses are 'old fashioned' and some of them are only likely to flower once. With a lot of care and attention over the colder months and with a keen eye on dead heading when in bloom its always hoped we have some roses for the Christmas dinner table. The first Rose flowered back in May and they will now be colour until the gardens close in October.
