' Dear Ian and Barbara, Thank you so much for your warm greeting to our group of five gardeners from Saint Louis last week and the detailed tour of your fabulous garden. I saw Waterperry, Barnsley, Hidcote, Snowshill, Kiftgate, Bourton, Kew, Painswick, Painhill, Wisley and Suddely also, but yours was by far the one that blew me away. Because I love English history, Ian's tour combining local law and plantmanship and his obvious love of your very special place - was brilliant. I feel totally inspired by what I saw, brought home ideas to use in my own tiny garden. Heartfelt admiration and appreciation for the efforts that took Abbey House from the bare patch in the history photo to your glorious gardens today. Sincerely, Susan Littlefield, Missouri USA. '
'Thank you so much for our wonderful visit yesterday.Your garden is a dream, a paradise, somewhere I could stay for ever. Thank you so much Barbara for your lively talk to my group, all of whom thoroughly enjoyed it. Personally and in 10 years of organising group visits, I have visited many, many gardens however I can honestly say this was by far the most beautiful and breathtaking taking experience I have ever had. The 'wow' factor was every few yards. My group have already asked to come back, and I too will be making a personal return visit. Your creation over 16 years is quite unbelieveable, you should be an inspiration to everyone and everything horticultural. '
'I would like to say how much we all enjoyed our visit to the gardens. The vibrant colours of the tulips were spectacular and lifted the spirits of everyone as did the garden as a whole, which was beautifully laid out and very relaxing to stroll around. I know from all the complimentary comments I received that this is a garden we shall come back to again in the summer time to enjoy the roses.'
'The garden is the most wonderful place of beauty and peace. Everybody in our party from the National Art Fund was utterly amazed by what you have both achieved and at the atmosphere of calm and serenity in the beauty of your garden.'
'As Chairman of our garden club I would like to say how much we enjoyed visiting your truly beautiful garden despite the awful weather. The garden sparkled with colour and reflections, the setting is exquisite, and planting just wonderful'
